Dear Miss Sweeney,
This letter is going to be a shower of thanks. First of all thank you for your interesting letter. You certainly had an interesting trip and full summer, visiting so many countries. Then again thank you for the “Till we meet again” which I so wanted and couldn’t get myself over here. How sweet of you to remember it! I shall always think of you when I sing it. And last but not least, how can I express my thanks for the exquisite hand kerchiefs! Really it was so kind of you to take all that the … to send me these beautiful things … deeply appreciate the thought … most artistic & dainty expression! Briarn ? has left for Paris, where she lives and I’ve sent her her share of this delightful “booty”! She will be as delighted as I & you’ll no doubt here from her directly.
We have come back to town as my boy’s school has begun, but the heat is yet so oppressive that we are rushing back to Frascati. Urban will drive into town every morning, returning after school hours, at 4:35. This has been an unusually long & hot summer & we’re panting for the autumn weather. I hope you will send me news of yourself when you can. I’m looking forward to seeing Father Sweeney at the end of the month. I did so enjoy having you all out at Frascati that day in June. With best remembrances & … … believe me yours very sincerely
Henrietta Barberini
